CASING SCRAPPERS

Brief Info

Alpha’s Tough Boy casing scrapers are designed to provide 100% coverage of the inner wall of casing and liners. This tool is very effective in the removal of mud cake, cement sheath, pipe scale and shot burrs. It is recommended that this tool be run immediately above bit on drilling or Completion operations.

Performance

It is recommended that this tool be run immediately above the bit on drilling or completion operations. If there is anticipated drilling of landing or float collars then the appropriate milling tool (string, watermelon, etc) should be added to create the proper dress assembly. For completion operations, it is recommended that a full body casing scraper be spaced to reach bottom of all casings. The Tools can be spaced above to further scour and prepare casing ID’s for fluid exchange and production equipment.

Note: Standard scrapers are manufactured to run pin up. This design allows bit or mill to be made up on bottom of the BHA.

  • Casing scrapers are designed to provide 100% coverage of the inner wall of casing and liners.
  • The 45-degree left and right hand blade design is contoured to accurately conform to the ID of the casing >> This casing scraper tool is very effective in the removal of mud cake, cement sheath, scale, shot burrs and other roughness on the casing wall.

CIRCULATING TOOLS

Brief Info

The circulating tool is used to boost flow rates at liner tops, which is essential for proper well bore cleaning. This tool enables an efficient exchange of well bore fluids or spotting of chemical pills. The Flow Boy is always run in the hole with the ports closed and is opened through contact with the liner top.

Performance

The circulation tool is dressed for each job with regards to liner size and PBR ID. A landing nut below the shifting sleeve contacts the liner top or PBR. Tool activation is achieved by using string weight, only approximately 3000 pounds of down weight is needed to accomplish activation.

As described above, once activated the tool operates in one of two possible modes. All circulation should be halted while activating or shifting this tool, to prevent seal damage.

RISER JET TOOL

Brief Info

Alpha’s Riser Jet Tool is used to hydro blast the BOP stack ram cavities removing lodged solid/debris and introduce them into the fluid stream while increasing annular velocities in the marine riser.
Riser Jet Tool is a solid mandrel valve with a 16″ OD for use in 18 4″ or larger BOP’s and risers. It can be run in the clean out/displacement string or can be introduced after short tripping the proper distance to tag the wellhead for depth control. This too is used to hydroblast the BOP cavities, removing lodged solids/debris and introducing them into the fluid stream while increasing annular velocities in the marine riser. There are 18.625″ ID jet nozzles that direct fluid up, out, and down to thoroughly dislodge gunk and debris. The number of nozzles and direction of flow can be configured to accommodate surface equipment and hydraulic concerns.

Performance

When the tool is positioned at the wellhead and rates have been established through the bit the Riser Jet Tool is activated by dropping a retrievable dart and shifting the tool to the open position. This position directs all of the flow through the jetting nozzles. The tool is then rotated slowly and reciprocated the appropriate distance to cover the stack. At maximum achievable flow rate down work string plus maximum boost line rate the debris is introduced into the fluid stream and lifted into the riser.

  • Riser brush tool is a well bore clean-up tool designed to clean the inside wall of risers periodically during drilling or completion phases of a well.
  • This tool has brush components to scour the ID of each riser joint and connector.
  • Designed with a one-piece body to provide full strength, the brush tool has drill pipe connections for direct make-up in the drill string.
  • This robust brush tool features stabilizers slightly below drift diameter of the riser to aid in centralizing the drill string.

REMOTELY OPERATED UNDERWATER VEHICLES (ROVS)

Brief Info

Alpha Remotely Operated underwater vehicles (ROVS) are tethered underwater-unoccupied vehicles, highly maneuverable underwater robots operated by a person aboard a surface vessel, common in deep-water industries such as offshore.
The ROV is kept aboard vessels mounting submersible operations for several reasons with safety as priority. Our services include internal and external inspection of pipelines and structural testing of offshore platforms many of which are scientific.
Alpha has developed the best ROV workforce in the industry through continuous investment in its employees. The Alpha ROV Training Program has been in place since 1995 and has a budget of over millions of dollars per year for ROV operations and maintenance training.

  • This system delivers many benefits such as reduced weight and deck footprint ability to carry a wide range of intervention tools and sensors in a wide range of situations and locations.
  • The whole system weighs around half that of a standard hydraulic system and takes up about half the deck area.

WASTE RETRIEVER SERIES

Brief Info

Alpha’s Waste Retriever is a special tool designed to captures gunk and solid that are not been carried out of the wellbore by fluid stream. It captures debris as annular velocities decreases in the marine riser. Waste Retriever is designed to catch particulate matter that has been dislodged as a result of a successful jetting operation. Run in conjunction with a variety of Jetting Tools

Performance

Robust in design, the Multi-Use Waste Retriever should lead the assembly in the hole with a stand spaced between the Flow Check Sub and Well Head Jetting Tool assembly. The Wear Bushing Retrieval Assembly should be spaced above with ease of handling in mind, then work string to surface. As the Wear Bushing is retrieved the exact distance is pulled to place the Jetting Tool across the wellhead profile.
The jetting operation will dislodge debris and clean the wellhead profile in preparation for the hanger assembly. Heavy debris that is introduced in the fluid stream will be captured in the Multi-Use Waste Retriever and any debris that is suspended will be filtered through the screen mesh when pulling out of the hole.

  • The waste retriever series are tools designed to capture well debris.
  • This riser tool was designed in recognition that even at high pump rates only relatively low annular velocities are achieved in the riser.
  • This design features screened drainage for positive debris removal, venturi jet porting to enhance debris capture through fluid manipulation and a robust solid mandrel design with 6 5/8-in reg. tool joint connections for superior torsion and tensile strength.

Performance

This tool is generally run above the Tough Boy scraper or brush tool as an integrated approach to clean and make sure well bore cleanliness meets proper standards. This assembly is most effective when exposed to all circulation related to the milling, clean-up and displacement operations.
The Big Strong Boy debris and scrap retriever can be run in all well bore fluids and becomes more effective as the solids carrying capacity decreases during fluid change out operations.
